factory, there are many times when it is easier to use the "P" position only. Since Park acts instantly, never shift the selector into this position when the care is in motion.

Neutral, as in conventional transmission, disconnects the driveshaft from the engine. In Neutral, car will roll freely down grades or when being pushed. (A disabled Buick should always be towed in Neutral.)

Drive is the only selector setting necessary for all normal forward driving. You can drive forward all day at high or low speeds without moving the selector.

Low is for unusually tough going - extremely steep hills and heavy-duty pulls - or for terrific acceleration (probably much more than you will ever want) from a standing start. You can also use Low for extra engine braking on downgrades at speeds under 40 m.p.h.

Reverse backs up your Buick. And because there is no clutch pedal, you are completely free to use your left foot on the brake pedal.

(The Dynaflow shift indicator is lighted for night driving, automatically, when the dash lights are turned on.)

Buick economy hits new highs

Big Gains in Gasoline Economy

Buick's economy gain in 1955 is double-barreled.

First, you save with the highest-compression, most efficient engines in Buick history. Record-high compression (up to 9.0-1) develops more power from a given amount of fuel. And with improved engine "breathing," your Buick burns more air, less gas.

Second, you save with the new Variable Pitch Dynaflow. With Dynaflow for 1955 you have at your toe-touch your choice of driving ranges - high performance range for maximum acceleration, or cruising range for maximum fuel economy. As compared with former years, in cruising range, engine speed is reduced for a given speed. This assures higher efficiency.

But remember, getting good gasoline mileage is largely up to you. High speed, jack-rabbit starts and sudden stops waste gasoline. For top economy, look to your own driving habits. And, of course, make it a point to let your Buick dealer check your engine regularly. That way you can be sure that the timing, carburetion, plugs and other precision parts are all operating at peak efficiency.

Less Maintenance and Repairs

Buick owners realize important maintenance savings from Dynaflow's oil-cushioned power Delivery. To.
